TSUNEISHI BRINGS AID TO SOUTHERN LEYTE LANDSLIDE VICTIMS
Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) Inc. headed by its President, Mr. Kenji Kawano and Gen. Manager, Mr.
Takamichi Tanabe together with Col. Clarence Martinez -Security Manager, Mr. Alaric Cejudo-HR Manager, and other
THI staffs and a representative from the Municipality of Balamban, Hon. Bernabe Gonzales Jr brought several donations
amounting to P1.5 million to the landslide victims in Barangay Guinsaugon, Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte last March 24, 2006.
The donations consisted of the following goods: 677 sacks of Rice (Ganador), 200 pcs Single burner gas stove, assorted
canned goods, chain saws and tents. These items were transported through the courtesy of BRP MANGYAN (AS71) under the
command of CDR Vic Lampas PN of the Naval Forces Central, Philippine Navy from Mactan, Cebu to Saint Bernard Municipal
Pier in Southern Leyte.
What was unique about the Tsuneishi endeavor was that the company directly coordinated with the Local
Government of Saint Bernard through its Mayor, Maria Lim and asked for their wish list, asking them its priority lists of goods and construction
materials to speed up recovery effort of the affected village.
The sum of P1.5 million were raised from the contributions of the different Tsuneishi
Group of companies namely : Tsuneishi Corporation of Japan, Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) Inc., K & A Metal Industries Inc., Asian Craft (Cebu) Inc., Cebu Asiatic
Shipping and Port Services, Inc., Tsunetetsu (Cebu) Inc., T & H Furnishing Industries, Inc. and Tsuneishi Technical Services (Phils.), Inc.
The latest humanitarian endeavor of the Tsuneishi Group is not just a way of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility but as a helping hand to
the affected victims of the landslide in order for them to recover from the disaster and to move on with their normal yet injured lives as a result of the disaster.
The donations were handed personally by Mr. Kenji Kawano to Mayor Maria Lim. Travel time to Saint Bernard is almost 14 hours to/from Balamban, Cebu, Philippines.
