TSUNEISHI, advancing sustainable practices in Balamban ecozones
Tsuneishi Group invests on the installation of the roof-mounted solar facility at West Cebu Estate, Balamban, Cebu, Philippines. With its commitment to protect the environment and to achieve a sustainable society, Tsuneishi Group remains committed in the contribution to reduce GHG emissions by transitioning to the use of renewable energy not only in ship development and manufacturing, but in every aspect of its business.
There are two phases of the three-megawatt (3MW) roof-mounted solar project under Tsuneishi Holdings (Cebu), Inc. (THD) and Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu), Inc. (THICI).
On July 28, 2025, THD has completed Phase 1 that covers the Tsuneishi Technical Services (Phils.) Inc. (TTSP) admin office and dormitories with a total of 1.1 MW. The project is executed by its subsidiary company, Tsuneishi Green Energy Philippines, Inc. (TGEPI). TGEPI, registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), focuses on fostering sustainable energy for the industrial zone. TGEPI’s research and development is eyeing on developing the perovskite solar type, a type of thin-film solar cell that utilizes a perovskite-structured compound as the light-absorbing layer.
On the other hand, Phase 2 which covers the THICI parking areas and Tsunetetsu (Cebu), Inc. (TCI) facility with a total of 1.9 MW, is still on-going and is set to be completed in 2026.
