Company History: A Quick Glance

A joint venture between TSUNEISHI GROUP and ABOITIZ GROUP of companies, Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu), Inc. is by far the biggest investment in the Philippines by the Tsuneishi Group and was established on September 1994. Operations started on December 1994 with the construction of the site facilities inside the West Cebu Industrial Park - Special Economic Zone in Buanoy, Balamban, Cebu.

THICI was formally established on September 1994, with a solid capital investment of $60 Million.

    Company was established.

  • 1996, May
    Keel of SC001 SEA AMELITA was laid.

  • 1997, January
    (SC001) SEA AMELITA The first Ship built by THICI was launched, weighing 23,000 DWT.

  • 1997, May
    (SC001) SEA AMELITA was delivered.

  • 1997, July
    Conversion of a cargo ship to a cattle carrier was completed.

  • 1998, February
    A part of Cement plant for Alson Cement Factory was completed.

  • 1998, September
    Company was registered as an Ecozone Export Enterprise (PEZA).

  • 1998, October
    THICI was awarded "Outstanding Countryside Investor of the Year" by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

  • 1998, December
    Company was certified for ISO 9002 by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai.
  • 1999, February
    Vertical kilns for the Philippine Sinter Corporation was completed.

  • 1999, April
    Launching of the very first 45,000 DWT Bulk Carrier built in the Philippines (SC011) MINA OLDENDORFF.

  • 2000, November
    Launching of the very first 52,000 DWT Bulk Carrier built in the Philippines (SC019) CENTURY SEA.

  • 2001
    Acheived the target of seven 52,000 DWT ships in a year.

  • 2002, May
    Company was certified for ISO 9001 by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai.

  • 2003, November
    Company was certified for ISO 14001 by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai.

  • 2004, March
    Company recieved the Outstanding Environmental Performer Award by Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)

  • 2004, November
    Slipway No. 2 Completed.

  • 2005, January
    Company's No.2 Slipway was formally inaugurated by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

  • 2005, March
    Company recieved the Outstanding Community Relation Award given by the Philipine Economic Zone Authority.

  • 2006, January
    Completed Phase 3 Project (Factory Support Facilities)

  • 2006, September
    Launched the very first 58,000T type bulk carrier (SC-074 "MV Medi Lisbon")

  • 2006, November
    Launched the very first Pure Car & truck Carrier (PCTC) ever built in the Philippines.

  • 2006, December
    Delivered SC-074, (DWT 58,000T type Bulk Carrier)
